The 47th Annual Fort Lauderdale International
Boat Show will be the world’s largest boat
show by area and feature more than $1.6 billion
dollars in boats, yachts, super-yachts, engines, electronics
and accessories from every major marine manufacturer
and builder in the world.
The show will run Oct. 26-30.
The marine extravaganza will again cover six
locations: Bahia Mar Yachting Center; Greater Fort
Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center; Fort
Lauderdale Grande Hotel and Yacht Club; Hyatt Pier
66 Hotel & Marina; Hall of Fame Marina; and Las Olas
Marina. The total area for staging the show will be more
than 3 million square feet of land and water connected
by the Show Transportation Network. Manufacturers will
showcase boats for fishing like runabouts, sportfishermen,
bowriders, center consoles, catamarans, canoes and
flats boats. For the general water enthusiasts, the boat
makers will display models of high performance boats,
cabin cruisers, express cruisers, sailing yachts, motor
yachts, trawlers, inflatables and extraordinary super
yachts. Almost one third of the show will be devoted to
accessories, equipment and marine services.
For the sport fisherman, the boat show will offer
nearly everything one could want in terms of fishing
essentials and serves as catalyst for conservation. Kids’
Fishing Clinics have been a part of the boat show since
1997, with each child receiving a rod, reel, tackle kit and
T-shirt for participating. The clinic instructs children on
safety, fishing and conservation.
Concurrently, lures, tackle, GPS systems, fighting
chairs, rods, reels and fishing attire will be on display
from a host of manufacturers.
On Thursday, Oct. 26, there will be a preview day
for the general public and marine industry professionals
before the official opening Friday, the 27th. “Prime Time
Preview” tickets are $30. The show begins at 10 a.m.
each day and ends Monday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m. General
admission for adults is $16, child-admission is $5 and a
five-day pass is $60. Children under six will be admitted
free.
