A South Florida native, 25-
year-old Kim Perantoni
is a former prep and
college softball player, which
she says makes her a natural at
casting a fishing rod. The second
to youngest of four children, she
comes from a large, tight-knit
family. She is an avid boater
and fisherwoman, and has
enjoyed the water since she
was a child living in the
Florida Keys.
“I fished with my
father when I was young,
but I made my first cast about [a
year] ago,” she said. “All of the guys
asked me how I managed to cast so
well, I told them it had to be because
of softball.”
It was along this time that Kim
was first photographed by Richard
Gibson as she held a live, 10-pound
bonefish that she nicknamed, “Boner.”
“I said that it was, ‘My first
boner,’” she told Worldwide Angler.
“It was tricky because they wanted
me to hold the fish [while] topless. So
I went under the water, and held the
fish, then came up.”
She has also recently appeared in
Motor Boating Magazine.
Besides fishing and boating, Kim
is involved in fitness on all levels
including kickboxing and recreational
softball. She works as a skin care
specialist at Grove Isle Resort and Spa
in Coconut Grove and as a bartender
at Rodbender’s Rawbar in Cutler
Ridge. She hopes to pursue a career
as a hair and make-up artist in the
fashion or television industry.
